Our story

About

Future Underground Nation is a highly experienced music production company based in the South West of the United Kingdom. 

 

We are one of the longest-running club nights in the UK, BEATZ & BOBZ promote DJ nights and Live acts in Exeter and around the South West. 

 

Beatz & Bobz have hosted arenas at top UK Festivals including arenas in Glastonbury Glade and The Dance Village, host The BASSMENT at The Glade Festival and Little Big Top at Beautiful Days. 

 

Beatz & Bobz have promoted parties in Miami for the WMC and toured the USA to promote their first Mix CD in 2001. This led to the formation of the Functional Breaks label which went on to release 2 albums from Dreadzone as well as 65 vinyl releases

 
25 years of beatz & BObz

History

We launched on Thursday 30th October 1997 as a breakbeat club at the then 275 capacity Cavern Club Exeter, the first guest was the Orb’s Dr Alex Paterson. We moved to Friday nights with the second party with guest General Midi other early guests include 808 State and a very young Phantom Beats. Soul of Man played their second ever gig at Beatz & Bobz and Rennie Pilgrem debuted his seminal Emit remix at the club after finishing it on the train on the way down to Exeter.

Stand out moments

Beatz & Bobz: the visit from the legendary godfather Afrika Bambaataa, Timo Maas playing the week his Azido Da Bass mix was at number one, the residents selling out the club with no guests for the first time and seeing the club grow from around 80 people in the early days to selling out the Lemon Grove at Exeter University (1000 people) in 2005. The first Beatz & Bobz Mix CD release. One thing we do know that just keeps getting better is the Beatz & Bobz, crowd! With so many DJs saying one of the best and most knowledgeable crowds in the country. Krafty Kuts said the Exeter Respect Afterparty in 2011 was one of the best gigs he played where ever he went musically the crowd went with him. 

Here to stay

In 2001 Beat & Bobz started to promote live bands kicking off with Dreadzone and a sold-out show due to them being on Jools Holland the night before. We always strive for the most enjoyable and spectacular productions and music for our loyal fan base and can not wait to keep doing what we do best.
